Episode Timeline

An overview of what to expect throughout the therapy process

After receiving your contact form, I will email you to organise an introduction meeting, where we can have a chat about the needs of your child. In this conversation, we may go through a "strengths and difficulties questionnaire"

Once I have signed consent, you will introduce me to your child and we will have our own introduction session. In this session I will explain to them why they are visiting me, we will talk about confidentiality and the rules of the room. We will decorate their "process box" which they will store all physical work, until their final session. I will also invite them to draw a house/tree/person scene which can be used as a creative assessment of their sense of self before and after therapy.

Following a weekly basis, your child will come to the therapy room for 40 minute sessions. At beginning of each session, I will tell them: "this is the space, you can choose to play or not. I will not stop you, unless you hurt yourself, hurt me, or the things in the room."

After session 8, we will have a catch up to discuss progress and length of episode. Sessions will continue until we feel they have met their goals

Once a decision has been made to end session, I will start a countdown with your child, so that they will have time to prepare for and process the ending. In the final session is a celebration and we go through the work they made over the episode, and the child decides what they would like to leave and what they would like to take home. I will again invite them to draw a house/tree/person.

We have another conversation about progress, and I will ask you to complete another questionnaire, so as to measure progress. I will also write an end report on the therapy episode.
