My name is Meg Reeves, I am based in Brighton and have 3 years experience as a child play therapist

Hello!

For the last four years, I have worked with neurodiverse children, with needs ranging from autism to down syndrome to PDA profiles. I started off as a teaching assistant in an SEN school, where I fell in love with the world of child mental health support, and felt inspired to pursue education in child therapy. Safe to say: I think this is the best job.

A specific passion of mine is supporting the mental health of special needs children. Over the years, I have learnt through experience and research, how to make therapy accessible to these individuals, and have developed a  massive respect for their day to day struggles and successes. I chose play therapy as opposed to CBT, for the simple fact that not all children can talk but they can all play. Too often, support services do not offer the flexibility necessary to engage neurodiverse children, and so, they fall through the cracks, even though they are four times more likely to develop ill mental health. Confirmed by psychometric assessment, parent interviews and teacher interviews, I have found play therapy to be effective with pre-verbal children, ADHD, ADD and across the full autism spectrum.
